this is me.

In all my weirdo glory. I'm currently 48 years old and I can adult with the best of them, but I also love all the fun things that remind me of what being a kid could have been like- when life was fun and sparkly and it was okay to feel like or pretend to be whatever you wanted. Neat stickers, new crayons... so many things signaled promise and hope when you're a child. A fresh start. Bright, crisp happiness.

But for some of us, life goes stupid before we're tall enough to do anything about it. So now as grownups we like to look back at things we only got a taste of, or may have missed altogether. And why shouldn't we? If there are simple, silly little things that give us a burst of happiness, of pure, unadulterated joy, then that's not only okay, it's a blessing.

It means we have not become so jaded that we can't remember what it's like to blow bubbles. Or to see a rainbow the sprinkler makes on a sunny summer day. That we still can have a sense of wonder inside our hearts is a magical thing, and it's certainly something I never want to grow out of. And if liking sparkles or wearing fun jewelry can remind me on the outside what is still there on the inside, then I shall carry on.
